Gail M. Towne, graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 2002 and after working exclusively in the areas of family law on the East side of the state for five years, she returned to her hometown, Kalamazoo, MI to establish a statewide family law practice. Now, Ms. Towne handles all family law matters as an associate with Lennon, Miller, O’Connor & Bartosiewicz, PLC while remaining of counsel to Amy A. Yu, P.C.
Ms. Towne now practices primarily in Western Michigan, with a continued commitment to helping individuals and families traverse through the family courts or facilitate private settlements related to family law issues. Specifically, her practice focuses on domestic relations law including divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, and other family law matters. Ms. Towne’s practice also extends to probate and estate planning and real estate matters. She is an experienced litigator, but strives to educate the legal community and the public on alternative dispute resolution, particularly collaborative law, as a preferred means to resolving family disputes.
Committed to the belief that family law cases should be decided by and between the families, Ms. Towne is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Michigan and the International Academy of Collaborative Practitioners as well as a founding member of the Collaborative Practitioners of Greater Kalamazoo/Your Kalamazoo Divorce whose website can be found at www.yourkalamazoodivorce.com.
Additionally, Ms. Towne is presently a Council member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, as well as a member to its Amicus Committee; a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar; and the Kalamazoo County Bar Association; She writes and speaks frequently on family law matters, including works for publications such as Lawyer’s Weekly, the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and the Family Law Section Journal. She was selected to be in the Michigan Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star in Family Law for 2011.
